Keynote Speaker: Andy Duran

Andy Duran has served as the Executive Director of both LEAD and the SpeakUP! Prevention Coalition since May 2012. Equipped with years of experience working with youth and a new approach to drug prevention, Andy has developed LEAD into a nationally recognized organization that offers trainings, workshops and technical assistance for organizations all over the country. Locally, through the efforts of the SpeakUP! Coalition and its community stakeholders, substance use rates have declined by record margins. Andy blends his coalition and prevention work with more than 10 years of experience in youth leadership development. In addition to working for years as a Youth Minister in the Archdiocese of Chicago, Andy also served as the Executive Director of the Peacebuilders Initiative - a dynamic and unique leadership development program at the Catholic Theological Union that trains young leaders for ministry. Andy is also the founder of Camp Hope, a recreational summer camp for children and teens with disabilities. Over the past 2 years, Andy has spoken in more than 20 states in the areas of youth development, drug prevention, social media, coalition development and mobilization, prescription drug prevention strategies, medical marijuana and more.

Under Andy’s direction, LEAD has developed into a nationally recognized organization that offers training, workshops and technical assistance for organizations all over the country.

In addition to his non-profit experience, Andy has worked as a marketing and social media consultant for organizations of all types and sizes.

Andy is passionate about the lives of young people, and about the adults who serve them.
State of the State: Mark P. Fontaine

Mark Fontaine serves as the Executive Director of the Florida Behavioral Health Association (formed in 2015) and the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (since 2006). He leads the development of public policy related to behavioral medicine, substance use disorder prevention and treatment, mental health, juvenile and adult corrections, and recovery. Mr. Fontaine is the voice for community providers who deliver behavioral health services across Florida.

Mr. Fontaine manages an Association with an annual budget of $15.8 million and a staff of 14 professionals. He is on the Board of Directors of the National Council for Behavioral Health and a Governor Scott appointee to the State of Florida Drug Policy Advisory Council.

Previously Mr. Fontaine served as Executive Director of the Florida Juvenile Justice Association and project manager for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD). He has been providing leadership in the behavioral health and justice fields for over 35 years.

Mr. Fontaine has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree from Florida State University, holds Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) and Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP) credentials, and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with the American Society of Association Executives.
